Siswan Community Reserve (SCR) is located in Majri Tehsil of SahibzadaAjit Singh Nagar (Mohali), district of Punjab. It extends between 30°52¢ North and 76°45¢ East and is spread over an area of ~ 13km2. Of the four community reserves of Punjab, two of which were the first ever notified in India, SCR is the latest and declared so in December 2017.  SCR is named after Siswan village, which is located towards the south-western part of the community reserve.

SCR is composed of mostly privately owned land and some government land. The Siswan reservoir (30°52'8.71"N, 76°45'0.66"E), which is enclosed in the Reserve, is under the ownership of the irrigation department.  There are seven villages in the periphery of the community reserve and have private landholdings in SCR. The source of water in Siswan reservoir is from the seasonal stream of SiswanRiver. SCR is governed in accordance to the Punjab Land Preservation Act, 1900, for the conservation of sub-soil water and prevention of erosion, the area is managed through Department of Forest and Wildlife Preservation. SCR has been notified under Section 36C of Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972 (amended in 2006) as Community Reserve vide Government of Punjab Notification No: 34/12/2017-Ft.-5/1052786/1 Dated29th August 2017.

Don'ts

.  Avoid littering public places and ensure that waste is disposed only in bins earmarked for the 

     purpose.

  1. Always dump waste in proper places where there are dustbins.
  2. Never Throw away plastic bags and waste in the location.
  3. Do not collect any form of fauna or flora from any locations.
  4. Be aware of the negative aspects of insensitive behaviour, such as taking photographs of people without their consent or failure to observe local customs.
  5. Be aware of your  capabilities and the dangers posed by the trip.
  6. Dress codes to be followed, modest dress is preferred.
  7. Do not damage plants-for example by walking, driving, or landing on extensive moss beds or lichen-covered areas.
  8. Be aware of applicable restrictions and regulations of the site.
  9. Please ensure that necessary permission is obtained before visiting.
  10. Maintain a safe distance from all wildlife.
  11. Do not disturb any animal by making noises, flashing lights or making any sudden movements that mat frighten animals.
  12. Do not damage vegetation or any fencepost, gate or signpost in the park.
  13. Always remain inside your accommodation at night.
  14. Be aware that the animals are wild and can be dangerous.
  15. Do not remain in the parks or reserves between 5 pm & 7 am unless accommodation is provided.
  16. Do not discard any foodstuff or litter the land and water bodies.
  17. Do not hand-feed fish or any other animal.
  18. total silence and discipline are required to spot wild animals while trekking Travelling alone is prohibited and small groups are preferred.
  19. Smoking and Consumption of Alcohol are strictly prohibited in forest area.
  20. Do not try to explore unfamiliar things while trekking.
  21. Be careful during boat rides. Don't do anything that will rock the boat or endanger lives.
  22. Camp fire and open fires should be avoided while trekking.
  23. The restrictions/regulations regarding Wildlife and its habitat provided in the signages/boards should be strictly followed by the visitors.
  24. The visitors should strictly follow the guidelines of the Government regarding Covid-19 or any other pandemic during the visit.
